Treating menopausal symptoms

by Rachael Forrest

A new meta-analysis of research highlights the positive effects of acupuncture on menopausal symptoms.  The report

indicates that acupuncture reduces hot flash frequency and severity and improves quality of life (QoL) in the vasomotor domain. The beneficial effects of acupuncture on hot flashes persists for as long as 3 months.

In Chinese Medical theory, hot flushes, night sweats, forgetfulness and insomnia all can stem from what we call 'blood deficiency'.  Over a woman's lifetime, she loses blood on a monthly basis and, on approaching menopause, this loss of blood shows itself through these symptoms.

We use acupuncture and, if necessary, Chinese Herbal Medicine and nutritional advice to help reduce the symptoms and improve a woman's quality of life.
