Jill recently became a Co-Director of the Albany Street Clinic in April 2023. She has been a member of the team for over 10 years. Jill trained with Jing Institute of Massage and Complementary Medicine. She combines a variety of bodywork techniques to create a unique massage experience.

  • Jill is an experienced and highly qualified clinical massage practitioner specialising in treatments for pain relief and wellbeing. Whether you seek relief from muscular aches and pains from daily living, rehabilitation from a sports injury, pregnancy related discomfort, repetitive strain injury, or simply to alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety by calming the nervous system, each session is tailored to the individual. Jill combines a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide the best treatment for your goals.

    Jill has a degree level qualification in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage which is the highest training currently available in the UK. She is also a licensed practitioner of the Niel-Asher Technique for treatment of frozen shoulder and has a special interest in treating complex shoulder conditions.

    Jill also works as part to the Natural Fertility Centre, practising Abdominal myofascial release & massage.

Monika Niemczynowicz, DipAc, MBAcC

Monika has been practicing as an acupuncturist for almost 10 years. She is a graduate of the Northern College of Acupuncture in York and a Co - Director of Albany Street Clinic and the Natural Fertility Centre.

  • Prior to qualifying  as an acupuncturist, Monika earned a Master's degree in English Literature. She taught English for several years before deciding to make a career change and follow her life-long fascination with holistic medicine.

    Her interest in how the body and mind work together to create well-being urged her to take up studies in Social Care and Counselling and, eventually, Traditional Chinese Medicine.

    Monika's education and work experience have given her an appreciation of the transforming and healing potential of therapeutic relationship as well as the tools to help facilitate that process.

    Monika treats a variety of conditions, but has a special interest in gynecological issues, treatment of pain and stress/anxiety related disorders, which could include gastrointestinal problems, low energy, headaches, panic attacks.

    She combines knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as the most recent research in acupuncture and health management in order to provide the best quality care to her patients.

Fiona has been qualified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicinal Herbs for over 25 years. She is also a Registered General Nurse and experienced massage therapist. Fiona has also qualified in facial acupuncture and massage.

  • Fiona enjoys the challenge of diagnosing her patients from a Chinese perspective and integrates this with her knowledge of Western Medicine. Fiona has many years experience of patients with endometriosis, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and recurrent miscarriage. Fiona also works as part of the Natural Fertility Centre and our Arthritis and pregnancy clinics.

    Fiona has discontinued her membership of the British Acupuncture Council but is still fully insured and qualified to treat patients with acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Rachael O’Connor (Forrest)

Rachael qualified in acupuncture in 2000 and subsequently spent 20 years setting up running and working in the Natural Fertility Centre and the Albany Street Clinic as well as founding and developing the NFC Essentials brand of fertility supplements. As part of the Natural Fertility Centre, she enjoyed establishing and maintaining relationships with IVF clinics, keeping up to date with all the relevant scientific research and developments, as well as giving talks on fertility at public events. She now lives, and runs an acupuncture clinic, in Peebles, as well as working at Albany Street.

  • Rachael is currently training to become a ‘Trauma Informed’ therapist. The training begets a deeper understanding of the effects of physical, emotional or psychological trauma/s in the
    short and longer term (PTSD and Complex PTSD), as well as the effects of anxiety and stress on brain chemistry and the body.

    She enjoys facilitating and observing the fundamental changes in her patients that acupuncture can bring about, as well its’ ability to relieve pain and stress and all the consequences of these issues.

Anu Sharma, DipAc, MBAcC

Anu graduated as an acupuncturist from the Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) in York. Before studying acupuncture she trained as a dietician and worked in the NHS. She currently works as a Research Dietician at Edinburgh University.

  • Anu treats all kinds of health issues and adopts a relaxed gentle approach whilst trying to get to the root of the issue.  

Omayma trained at the College of Chinese Medicine in Edinburgh, qualifying with distinction. The main objective of her work is to bring healing, comfort, and a sense of harmony to my patients. Acupuncture, along with other treatments she uses, pave the way to try to achieve this goal.

  • Fascinated by the history, traditions, techniques, and new discoveries in the field, she is always learning and improving her practise.

    Omayma treats each individual patient with the utmost of care and thrive on getting to know them, understanding the root cause of their condition, and treating them according to their needs.

    She has a particular interest in treating long-standing viral and bacterial conditions that linger and can cause fatigue, low mood, decreased energy and other unwanted symptoms.

    She is a registered practitioner with the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) for Microsystem Acupuncture. This organisation makes the case to government for the use of complementary healthcare to enhance the UK’s health and wellbeing. They raise awareness of complementary healthcare and doctors are able to refer patients to practitioners registered with CNHC.

Pearlyn Quan

Pearlyn is a licensed acupuncturist and a registered member of the Acupuncture Society, and is fully insured to practice acupuncture, tuina, cupping and moxibustion.

  • She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture with her teacher Darren Rose, who runs a busy fertility clinic in London. She continued to develop her skills in Chinese herbal medicine, cupping and tuina at the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Chung Hwa Medical Institute), as well as the School of Healing Arts (SOHA) in Singapore. Upon graduation, she worked as a clinical assistant to Dr Gabriel Chen at Oak Health TCM Clinic in Singapore.

    Previously, Pearlyn had a career in design and technology. Confronted with various stress-related health issues, she eventually turned to Chinese medicine and found it nothing short of life-changing, and went on to study TCM and acupuncture to help others in need of support and self-care. Chinese medicine is deeply rooted in her culture and upbringing, and she hopes to share it in a way that is easy and approachable. Her special interest is in acupuncture for fertility, IVF support, and women’s health, but she is happy to treat anyone across a wide range of conditions and health goals.

Marcy has over 20 years of experience working as a Massage Therapist and is very skilled in helping alleviate pain and tension associated with every day living and injuries. She has an intuitive ability to provide very restorative and healing treatments which she tailors to her clients needs.

  • Marcy has a particular interest working with back/hip, neck and shoulder pain and has trained with the Jing Institute of Advanced Massage, focusing on these areas.

    She is very experienced using a range of advanced techniques including Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Work, Myofascial Release, Stretching, and Hot Stones Massage. Marcy also offers Pregnancy Massage which is deeply relaxing and can be very helpful dealing with pain or discomfort during the various stages of pregnancy.

    Marcy’s attentive, caring nature and problem solving skills ensure clients leave their sessions feeling lighter and restored, with an overall improvement in their well-being.

Jules has a reputation for getting to the heart of the matter. Her training began in Ireland in 2005 where she studied Holistic massage and Reflexology. In the nine years that followed she refined her skills and furthered her training in Scotland, France and India. With the addition of studying different methods of healing and spiritual practice, Jules has created a supportive and very holistic way of working and is now also fully trained in pregnancy massage. This ensures her clients’ physical and emotional needs are catered for.

  • Having experienced long term physical challenges in the past, Jules understands first-hand the problems that can arise on all levels due to being in physical pain. This understanding has shaped her work in a strong, compassionate and positive way.

Josh Hoy,

Josh trained and qualified as a Physiotherapist from Ulster University in Northern Ireland, where he then worked as a Junior (Band 5) Rotational Physiotherapist. He subsequently moved to Scotland to undertake a Specialist Physiotherapist role at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he continues to work.

  • Whilst Josh utilises a wide range of Physiotherapy techniques and practices including massage / soft tissue release, kinesiology taping, acupuncture and dry needling, his specialist areas of interest are vestibular conditions and orthopaedic / post-injury rehabilitation.

    Josh is a registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) & Association of Chartered Physiotherapists Interested in Vestibular Rehabilitation (ACPIVR).

    Marie has a wealth of experience having spent all her working life in the field of nutrition, firstly within the education system and then undertaking extensive further study. She has experience ranging from supporting dietary change to optimise health, to complex health cases.

    Marie is also a health and wellbeing coach and a cancer dietary support nutritional therapist. Marie was recently awarded Nutritional Therapist Scotland 2023 / 24 Award for the service she offers and the difference she makes to her clients.

Jenny's passion for movement initially led her into a career as a Teacher of Physical Education and Dance, later becoming a Pilates and Yoga practitioner.

Jenny has been a practising Pilates and Yoga teacher for nearly 10 years and in 2023 completed training with the Centre for Trauma and Embodiment at the Justice Research Institute in Boston in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga. She is also trained in supporting women with pelvic floor dysfunction through the Adore Your Pelvic Floor programme and has led workshops in Pelvic Floor Health, Breathwork and Trauma.

  • Jenny is keenly aware of the immense healing potential that lies within movement,  mind-body awareness and noticing our internal experience. She offers holistic mind and body work through Movement Therapy for those recovering from injury, illness and complex trauma working collaboratively towards embodied healing.

Alison is an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who works with children, adolescents, and adults. She has an MA in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh and has a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT from the University of Hertfordshire.

  • Alison uses CBT to treat a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, work-related stress, as well as helping clients to resolve relationship issues, improve their self-esteem and self-confidence. She has particular interest in working with disordered eating and OCD.

    Alison also works with business men and women, including CEOs and directors, helping them to achieve their professional goals.

    She has an integrative approach to therapy and will draw upon other modalities when appropriate. These include ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

    Alison is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, teaching CBT at Post Graduate level. She is married with four grown up children and prior to working as a CBT therapist, she worked in Investment Banking, Executive Search and Retail.
